Leadership you Can trust
The County Auditor is responsible for assembling the county’s budget, ensuring that records are kept accurately, and overseeing the integrity of the county’s election process.
My priorities as Auditor will be to:
Build trust with County Commissioners, peers and staff
Promote customer service in county licensing and recording operations
Ensure accurate and timely reporting of county finances
Embrace technology to streamline processes and reduce costs
Protect the integrity of the election process
I’ve been following the County Commissioners’ meetings, noting their increasing frustration over the lack of timely, accurate, detailed reporting of the county’s expenses at a time when costs are exceeding revenues. This affects the Commissioners’ ability to do their work and raises my concern for the future health of our county. Something is broken in the Auditor’s office, and it’s not the skilled and dedicated staff.
This office needs a leader who can build trust, promote customer service, ensure accurate and timely reporting, embrace technology, and protect our elections.
I have that leadership experience. As an economist, corporate facilitator, and finance consultant I have grown teams at companies including Boeing and Microsoft, led large organizations through culture and process change, and managed the books and payroll for my wife’s small businesses.
I grew up in a town very much like Walla Walla, the son of immigrant parents who stressed the importance of work, community, and education. My first job at sixteen was at the grocery store stocking vegetables from local farms. I put myself through college working in factories during the summer and earned degrees in Economics and an MBA.
I serve on the Parks, Recreation and Urban Forestry Advisory Board, and on the Board of the Walla Walla Arts Collaborative. My wife and I are actively engaged in the community and love the beauty and bounty of the county. I have participated in both the Civics Academy and the Police Citizens Academy programs, and was inspired by the citizens who step up when they see a need to serve their community.
I believe in the future of our county, and I believe every penny counts, every record counts, and every vote counts. You deserve to know that they are not at risk. I look forward to serving the community as the County Auditor. Thank you for your consideration, and your commitment to our election process.
